Six hours after posting The Mental Health Field Isn't Knapp posted Trust Your Gut - Not the Credentials on the Wall (below). Apparently he was continuing his portrayal as honest John, just another human being with flaws but with the heart of a champion for those who have suffered spiritual abuse.

Four hours after posting Trust Your Gut Knapp began his fear, smear, and retaliation tactics by posting Beware Ca*** W****—Cyberstalker

Trust Your Gut—Not the Credentials on the Wall
Written by John M. Knapp, LMSW

The longer I live, the more I believe that credentials—be they LCSW, PhD, DD, what have you—are thin and meager fig leaves for people who need to hide the fact that they can’t fucking do the job.

Jesus? No diploma. No paper for that matter.

Buddha? Didn’t think names, forms, or degrees had any Reality.
Copernicus? Coped without one.
Lincoln? Split his famous logs. No paper.
Segovia? Not a lesson in his life. One of the greatest performers of all time—at least as recorded.

But every one of ‘em could fucking get the job done.

What is the job—at least in my work?
  • Love.
  • Respect.
  • Being there.
  • Answering questions as best you can—when you’re asked.
  • Admitting you don’t know the answers when you don’t.
  • Helping find the necessary answers by any means necessary.
  • And fucking keeping out of the way as your client heals him or herself.
Regardless. Just because the other person is human.

Not because of insurance. Or state regulations regarding paperwork. Or fear of being sued for malpractice.

No matter what the other person believes. No matter what the other person says. No matter how they feel. No matter what they’ve done. No matter who they hang out with.

That’s about it.

Problem is, the more letters they give you after your name, the harder it gets to do that simple job.

Credentials just mean you could cram for a test and write a halfway decent paper the night before the deadline.

If you need someone to write a term paper for you, pick some credentialed dude every day of the week.

If you need healing, be cautious. You may have to look elsewhere.

School can not teach love and respect. Only a lifetime of living can do that.

I’m not suggesting you seek out quacks, mind you. Just make sure, when you are picking out a healer, they not only know they’re stuff, they’re a for-real-true human being first.

Do a gut check.

If you’re stomach feels queasy, it won’t probably won’t go so easy.

J.
